The No.20 is truly a unique lamp. Beautiful by day, spectacular by night. The light then spreads like a sunset through the wooden cage and the white (3D printed!) Shade. Read on for the distinctive details of this Dutch design lighting.
Do you know those old industrial lamps, with a cast-iron cage to protect the glass? The No.20 print lamp is a modern version of these ” bulls-eye ‘lamps. MDF approved with an FSC cage. And not a cast iron, but a cap of 3D printed biodegradable PLA. The 3D printer takes no less than 8 hours to produce this cover.
The industrial lamp gets its characteristic blackened edges from the laser beam with which we cut the MDF parts. The No.20 is then assembled without glue or fasteners. So that we use as few resources as possible.
The black edges and 3D printed hood, in combination with the carbon filament lamp, stainless steel bolts and black iron cord create a beautiful contrast between industrial and domestic. What do you think, does it fit in your interior?
Designer Olaf Weller paid a lot of attention to the way the light spreads through the No.20. The result is beautiful, the different thicknesses of the white shade let the light shine through in different strengths.
Olaf’s vision is to make unique products with high-quality finishing on a small scale, for which he goes to the extremes of small-scale production methods such as laser cutting and 3D printing. As a designer, he plays with recognition, function and aesthetics of design.
