Description
No.39 Ovals wall lamp by Alex Groot Jebbink is based on the power of repetition. Designer Alex was looking for a way to connect the same shape in such a way that something new emerges. A design in which the whole is more than the sum of the parts. A design that exudes an apparent simplicity, but also directly raises the question: “how does this actually work?”
Material and technique were the starting point for this fascinating wall lamp. These are inextricably linked to the final design; not a carrier of the form but an essential part of the whole. A total of 40 ovals together form No.39 Ovals. By making smart use of half-timber connections and dimensionally stable MDF with laser cut technology, this lamp maintains itself.
After completing his studies in mechanical engineering, Alex Groot Jebbink graduated in 2003 as an interior architect and furniture designer. After which he graduated in 2012 as Master of Interior Architecture at the Utrecht School of the Arts. His designs are recognizable by the use of honest materials with their own character and clear, calm forms. The wonder lies in the apparent simplicity.
